Chapter One: Introduction

In Sokoto South Local Government, Sokoto State, women-led businesses have contributed significantly to local development despite facing challenges such as limited access to funding and societal barriers. Print media serves as a powerful tool in promoting the achievements of women entrepreneurs, highlighting their challenges, and advocating for supportive policies. Through feature stories, interviews, and case studies, newspapers and magazines amplify the voices of women entrepreneurs, encouraging inclusivity and empowerment (Usman & Aliyu, 2024). However, the extent and impact of such coverage remain underexplored, necessitating an assessment of print media's role in this context.

Despite the growing number of women entrepreneurs in Sokoto South, print media coverage often overlooks their contributions and challenges. Limited reporting hinders the visibility of these women, affecting public awareness and policy advocacy.
